U.S. Department of Labor

Office of Job Corps

Job Corps is a no-cost education and technical career training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor. Job Corps Centers help young people ages 16-24 improve the quality of their lives by providing in-demand training, certification, and education that empowers them to obtain great jobs and become more independent. For more than 50 years, Job Corps has operated as the most extensive nationwide residential career training program in the country, providing youth with opportunities to complete their high school education, advance to college, receive specialized career technical training, and secure job placement.

Our Close Partnership

As a prime contractor, Strategix partners with the U.S. Department of Labor to manage Job Corps Centers in following locations:

Focus on Policy

As a proud partner of DOL, Strategix is laser-focused on adhering to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Job Corps’ authorizing legislation, and the OJC’s Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH), which serves as the governing document for center operations. The PRH is divided into six equally important and inter-connecting sections designed to ensure Job Corps enrollees receive required services, training, and education.

Eye for Recruitment

We understand the ongoing need of OJC to find and recruit students who may benefit from the program, and we take that responsibility to heart. Our specially trained recruitment staff uses advanced techniques to identify and assess young people for potential entry into the program. We work closely with schools, employers, social service organizations, community-based programs, and others to develop these symbiotic relationships for youth in the community. We understand that no one program can solve every problem and that it takes a village to provide life-changing resources. We leverage our relationship-building skills to help young people connect to opportunities to develop meaningful skills and career pathways through Job Corps.

Students First

Once enrolled, Strategix provides holistic services and works diligently to prepare students for success. We provide students with counselors for career preparation and development who acclimate students to the framework for on-center living and success. We understand that some students may have special needs or difficulties adjusting to a structured environment, and we offer disability accommodations and counseling sessions related to community living. We clearly explain the code of conduct and provide information and classes on healthy lifestyles, leadership, behavioral expectations, social, and career success skills. To successfully prepare students for the workforce, we ensure they receive academic training to achieve their high school diploma or equivalency, in-demand career technical training, career success skills, and work-based learning.

Empowering Youth

Strategix also offers personalized career transition services to help students find full-time employment directly related to their career technical training. Our specialists can also facilitate students’ placement into postsecondary education, apprenticeships, or the U.S. military if that is their chosen path.

Strategix is further charged with providing OJC with management services that include program administration; recruiting; maintaining and developing high caliber staff; ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and other individuals while on Center; and certifying that our centers meet environmental and occupational safety and health requirements. We also develop policies and procedures governing the accountability of students and their entire matriculations through the program, as well as property administration and the integrity of all data generated.

COVID-19 Protocols

It is the goal of Strategix to take steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace and protect the wellness of our Job Corps Center students and employees. We are committed to providing a safe environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a federal contractor, Strategix cooperates with the Department of Labor and continually monitors our worksites and maintains ongoing safety protocols to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by:

  • Requiring new employees and new students to provide proof of negative COVID status upon entry, regardless of vaccination status
  • Providing daily symptom screening at worksites
  • Ensuring vaccination status certification
  • Ensuring proof of negative COVID status every 72 hours as applicable
  • Maintaining physical distancing
  • Wearing proper PPE including face coverings as applicable
  • Frequently cleaning and disinfecting work areas

We have also established a corporate COVID-19 Point of Contact (POC) who provides weekly guidance on masking and testing protocols according to local community levels as defined by the CDC and responds to emerging needs at each work location.

Strategix will continue to prioritize safety above all else. Any employee who feels COVID safety protocols are being violated at a Strategix worksite can report the issue via our dedicated ethics hotline.

Workforce Development
Programs

Workforce development program engagement is a key strategy to connecting underserved families with resources that enable them to qualify for employment. It is also critical to the economic health of every community. Strategix seeks ongoing partnerships with workforce development stakeholders in targeted communities where we can utilize our outreach and marketing, education and training, and technology expertise to implement needed solutions.

Apprenticeships

Strategix’s Education and Training senior leaders have developed expertise in partnering to create registered apprenticeships from the ground up at programs in California and Iowa. In line with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), we partner with State and local leaders to develop these valuable experiential training opportunities that enable job seekers to “earn and learn.” Strategix prioritizes the creation of apprenticeship opportunities for women and in non-traditional industries. Our approach is to serve as an intermediary between the State Office of Apprenticeship and local employers to educate businesses on the benefits of apprenticeship and facilitate effective alliances.
